Spruce

Work has begun upgrading the track around Spruce.

Tunnel

On the left, a westbound CNR FA-1 exits the tunnel at the bottom of the hill behind Spruce. On the right, the tunnel, track and roadbed have been excavated.

Hill

On the left, a CPR GP-7 at the top of the hill starts around the curve to Spruce. On the right, the track and roadbed for the curve have been removed. IPP&W Railway President Fred Mills contemplates the next phase of construction.

At Spruce the old retaining wall has already been removed and work is progressing well on the new stone wall.

On the left, stonemason Doug Matheson prepares one of the stones for the retaining wall. On the right, Lawrence Watkins is busy putting the final touches on it.

Now that the retaining wall at Spruce is complete, the roadbed for the main line around Spruce is being laid out.

Curve
