Twelve members of the OVGRS made the long haul to York, PA to take in the 2005 East Coast Large Scale Train Show (ECLSTS). Entering the door, I was overwhelmed by how much this show has grown since New Jersey. All the major manufacturers were there, along with a number of their largest retailers. There were lots of things to see and buy. A steady flow of merchandise was carried out the door by happy garden railroaders.
The modular layouts were set up in a large room opposite the retail area. From a roundhouse display to The Big Green, there was lots of talent displayed. Yogi Wallaces table always had a group of people in front of it, watching him demonstrate his scratch building techniques.
Fred and Doug gave two seminars on operations, and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the audience. Both Friday and Saturday nights, there was an OVGRS party in the lounge of the Holiday Inn, followed by an informal get together in the rooms.
Overall a very pleasant weekend, with vans full of new goodies being hauled home by happy OVGRS members.
